Police Officer 2025


The Lowell Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer. This position performs a full range of general law enforcement duties, including patrolling the city during their assigned shifts, preventing, detecting, and investigating disturbances and crime; perform traffic control tasks; apprehending suspects, and executing related assignments.  Work involves frequent contact with the public.

Applicants must have a working knowledge of law enforcement principles, practices, methods, and equipment; skill in the use of firearms; communicate effectively and the ability to build and maintain cooperative public relations with citizens.

Applicants must be able to pass a criminal/driving background check prior to employment. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma OR have completed a General Education Development (GED) program. Applicants with college degrees are highly desired. BLET certified applicants are desired. Achievements will be reviewed to determine compensation upon hire.  Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.  The hiring range for this position is $49,897 to $52,392, grade 16.
